Kano: NDLEA arrests 676 suspects, recovers 12,362kg illicit drugs in 12 months

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Kano state Command, Tuesday, disclosed that it seized over 12,362 kg of hard drugs in the state in the last 12 months.PIC 10. While attributing the success to collaborative efforts of security agencies in the state, the State Commander, Alhaji Hamza Umar said no fewer than 676 suspects were arrested.
Umar said the drugs seized included Cannabis, 3161.729kg, Psychotropic substances 9200.935kg, Cocaine, 156grm, and heroine, 50gm.
The Commander also disclosed that a total of 676 suspects were arrested within the period under review, while 143 were convicted as 214 cases are pending. He added that one Adamu Sani who was arrested with fake one hundred thousand dollars was handed over to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for prosecution.

“The command also transferred a total of 36 cases to various security agencies for further investigation,” Umar added.
