UNPAID SALARIES: Nasarawa Workers Declare A Strike

On Tuesday the Nasarawa State Joint Union of Local Government Employees declared strike over unpaid salaries by the State Government.
Nasarawa state President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees  Abdullahi Adeka announced that in Lafia.
He said: “The strike is necessitated by the inability of the state government to pay the workers their April and May salaries. The government left the union with no option than to embark on indefinite strike to press home its demands. The union had appealed to the government to pay them their outstanding salaries through many channels to avoid strike but the efforts proved abortive. Non-payment of the salaries had brought untold hardship to the workers. The union would set machinery in motion to monitor and ensure total compliance.”
